A multi-layered cyanotype print on paper, Caught in a Rainstorm, represents a walk around a tree in Porthkerry Park, Barry. While walking in the park during a heavy rainstorm the artist took shelter under the trees and began to notice the different plants growing around her. She decided to walk around one of the trees and pick a leaf from every plant her fingers touched.
The images are made from the leaves collected that day and layered with multiple cyanotype applications and exposures. A poem inspired by that moment is written in ink as the final layer.
Caught in a Rainstorm was shown at Habitat, Women’s Arts Association group exhibition, Llanover Hall, Cardiff, Sept – Nov 2019, with an Artificial Reality layer of video and sound.
